Gritting in Gloucester
Icewatch has operated during some of the coldest winters on record to provide commercial gritting in Gloucester. The 2010/2011 winter was particularly hazardous and there was a high demand for commercial gritting. Gloucester was hit hard by the icy conditions which led to vehicles stranded, schools closing and even refuse collections put on hold.
At Icewatch, we always have a gritter stationed near you. Although we are a nationwide service, we use locally-based gritters so we can respond quickly when the weather changes and keep fuel costs to a minimum. We pass our cost efficiencies on to you, so we always provide cost effective commercial gritting services.
We grit private roads, driveways walkways, ramps, access areas, communal areas and private car parks etc. in the Gloucester area, which do not fall under the council's responsibility to grit. Our winter maintenance service ensures your business stays open in icy weather, employees can get to work, customers can visit your premises safely and deliveries can be made.
What can you expect from our service? First we visit your Gloucester premises and carry out a full risk assessment to identify hazards and how to minimise them. During this consultation we may make recommendations on small changes that need to be made to the site to make the area safer.
We then monitor local weather reports daily between October and April and grit only when needed, taking into account changing temperatures and business opening hours. Our decision to grit is based on the ground temperature being less than -1 degrees centigrade during the night and moisture levels on the ground. If the temperature is expected to rise before business opening hours, gritting may not be required. We will always text you in advance of gritting and the final decision is always down to you.
In the event of heavy, unexpected snowfall, we can clear the snow safely using snow ploughing equipment.
Icewatch customers who sign up to our contract services also benefit from our £10 million public liability insurance.
Icewatch has been operating for more than six years and we look after 140 individual sites across the country including Gloucester. Our nationwide clients include schools, colleges, retail establishments, private homes, hospitals and medical centres, local authority buildings, car parks, industrial estates and property management companies.
