Ice Watch offer a nationwide gritting and snow ploughing service. Whilst snow ploughing is not a daily requirement in Nottingham UK due to its typically mild English climate, gritting of pathways, car parks and private roads is necessary at all business sites when the weather demands it. Gritting Services Nottingham – contact us now for a free quotation

Ice Watch's Nottingham gritting service works to prevent ice from forming. By monitoring highly localised Nottingham weather reports, for the specific location where your office, school, university, local authority building, hospital, or business park is located, we can accurately predict when gritting is required. We have salt spreaders throughout the country and will always have a contractor who is within 10 miles of your business, to guarantee a cost effective and highly responsive service.

Gritting will often prevent snow from settling too. However, should heavy snow fall, we provide a snow ploughing service for commercial organisations. Snow ploughing works to clear snow using either a mechanical snow plough or pedestrian snow blades depending on the size of the area to be cleared. With the combination of these two pieces of specialist machinery, we are able to remove snow from all areas of your Nottingham business premises including car parks, pathways, steps, ramps and site entrances. Grit is laid after ploughing to prevent ice from forming.

The key benefit of our gritting service is that it is proactive. We do not wait for snow and ice to settle in Nottingham, before taking action. We monitor in advance the weather conditions in your local area, to ensure that preventative gritting is carried out when and where necessary. Our service also provides full reports for your records, and covers all clients with £10 million public liability insurance, providing protection against any claims.

We cover all of the areas of Nottingham including Aspley, Bakersfield, Beechdale, Bilborough, Broxtowe, Bulwell, New Basford, Old Basford, Bestwood, Bestwood Park, Carrington, Cinderhill, Clifton, Colwick, Dunkirk, Forest Fields, Highbury Vale, Hockley, Hyson Green, Lace Market, Lenton, Lenton Abbey, Mapperley, Mapperley Park, The Meadows, Nottingham City Centre, The Park, Radford, Rise Park, Sherwood, Sherwood Rise, Silverdale, Sneinton, St Anns, Strelley, Top Valley, Whitemoor, Wilford and Wollaton.

About Nottingham

Nottingham is an inland city, lying to the north of Birmingham and to the south of Sheffield and Manchester. But it is fairly exposed to cold winds coming in from the east across the fairly flat, agricultural county of Lincolnshire. Its average minimum temperatures are moderate, even during winter, usually hovering at zero degrees C or slightly above. But absolute minimums of -10 to -15 degrees occur frequently, especially overnight and the city can expect an average 2 or 3 snow days per month from December through to March. This poses a significant risk of ice and snow throughout the winter – and snow can create disruption for far longer than 2 or 3 days per month if it is not cleared promptly.

Nottingham is a major hub for business and commerce, lying next to the M1 motorway and has a large central shopping centre supplemented by many out of town industrial and retail parks.

While public roads receive regular gritting and clearing, businesses with their own car parks, depots and other outside areas can be severely hampered by snow and ice within their own grounds, which can make conducting normal business difficult and can be a serious hazard to personnel and customers. In the recent snow falls this winter (2010/11) it was the companies who had made provision to keep customer and employee car parks clear that were able to minimise the impact of the crisis on their business. All the indications are that such extreme conditions are likely to become more common over the coming decade.
