Snow Removal Cambridge
Our Cambridge winter maintenance service also includes snow ploughing as required. Whilst salt gritting helps to avoid light snow settling, heavy snowfall can result in car parks that are a hazard to drive in, goods delivery areas that lorries can't get into and pathways which are treacherous to walk on.
Our snow removal service is provided as required. Once we have been notified of heavy snowfall (more than 5cms) our Cambridge based snow ploughs will come out at the close of business, once your car parks etc are not in use.
We use two types of snow plough, a small pedestrian snow plough to clear smaller areas such as steps, pathways and ramps and large motorised snow ploughs for car parks and private roads. Snow is removed to a safe area where it can melt without causing the additional hazard of ice forming.

About Cambridge
Cambridge is towards the eastern side England but is well inland from the coast. So although it does often get cold winds blowing across the fens, making it feel very cold, it is relatively well sheltered compared to the East coast. This is reflected in Cambridge’s relatively high average minimum temperature which tends to stay well above zero degrees C throughout the winter. However, it is also prone to occasional but extremely cold weather, with absolute minimum temperatures which have been known to push towards -10 degrees at any time between October and April. So, while snow and ice problems are rare in this area, when they do occur they can be severe, and the impact on trade and commerce can be very high, creating demand for preventative salt gritting in Cambridge and the surrounding area.
Cambridge itself is a city of multiple identities and characters. On one hand it is a historic market town, the focus for outlying agricultural areas. On the other, it is also an ancient university town with history and buildings dating back to the 13th century, creating a steady flow of students and academics from around the world and making Cambridge a year round tourist destination. More recently it has developed many high tech industries and is a focus for many global businesses. It stands on the intersection of the A14 linking it to the eastern port of Felixstowe, and the M11 linking it to London and the North. This makes Cambridge a popular hub for many haulage and distribution companies. The centre of the town is home to a major regional shopping centre which draws in shoppers from the surrounding counties.
