For us, doing things that look after the environment makes sense.

All our gritting operators are based less than 10 miles from the sites they look after – this ensures that they can reach them easily and keeps down the travelling miles.

Our gritting operators make sure that the optimum amount of de-icing salt is used – it’s better for cars using the car parks, cuts waste and is more economic. Their specialist equipment is calibrated to achieve accurate application rates as recommended by the Code of Good Practice Winter Maintenance.

Our equipment ranges from trailed spreaders and snow blowers, to small hand operated drop spreaders, so we can protect walkways and paths (without damaging grass verges) just as effectively as larger car parks. To eliminate the risk of surface discolouration, we only use white de-icing salt.
We recycle our salt bags too – it’s just the sensible thing to do!
